Billerica, MA -- NITON LLC, the world's leading manufacturer of portable x-ray fluorescence (XRF) instrumentation for alloy analysis, is pleased to announce that it has once again widened the performance gap between itself and other alloy analyser manufacturers - this time by at least 30 feet!

The company has announced today the production release of wireless communication for its new generation XLi and XLt alloy analysis products. this new option allows instantaneous communication between the analyser and any wireless-compatible PC, laptop, or pocket digital assistant (PDA) device, providing the ability to be separated by more than 10 meters (33 feet) without the need for any cable or wiring.

Unlike competitive analysers which are dependant upon a PDA for operation, NITON offers the convenience of a PDA, without the necessity This functionality allows the NITON instrument to be monitored and/or operated remotely by computer or PDA without the need for a direct cable connection to the instrument. Some of the benefits this provides are the ability for the instrument to be used on an extension handle or in other remote positioning while the test results are displayed on a PDA affixed to the user's wrist or that of another team member; or the ability for a supervisor to download stored test data while the analyser is being used by an operator The wireless functionality works with the full suite of NITON's NDT© utilities for software upload, download and reporting of stored readings, grade library edits and more. In addition, it opens up a new world of possibilities for interface with other Bluetooth-enabled devices such as GPS receivers, for storing location coordinates along with test results.
