XLt 797X with Small-spot focus technology
The handheld NITON XLt 797X small-spot
analyser with integrated visualization
technology provides a fast, reliable
and nondestructive means of screening
plastics and electronic components for
RoHS-prohibited substances. It features a
revolutionary "small-spot" x-ray analysis
area less than 1/20 the size of that offered
by any other portable XRF analyser, while its
ease of operation permits rapid screening
of manufacturing materials and products at
all stages. This provides significant savings
to users in both time and laboratory costs,
along with the added versatility provided by
the ability to analyze individual electronic
components.
Small-spot focus technology is ideal for identifying, accurately analyzing, and recording the analytical results of small components something previously only achievable with bench-top XRF analysers.
The NITON XLt 797X provides many distinct advantages:

The NITON XLt 797X provides many distinct advantages:
- » Very easy to use - even by nontechnical personnel
- » Little to no sample preparation is necessary
- » Nondestructive test with instantaneous results
- » Small-spot focus technology for screening of small components
With the simple pull of a trigger, the NITON
XLt 797X provides rapid quantitative
analysis of cadmium, lead, mercury, total
chromium and total bromine as well
as additional elemental constituents in as little as 30 seconds. PCBs, board
components, plastic housings, cables and
much more can all be tested with one light
weight instrument. In addition, Thermo's small-spot focus technology
allows users to better pinpoint the analysis of solder joints and small
components, especially on populated PCB's and other heterogeneous
materials while maintaining the precision and fast analysis time that
have always been a hallmark of NITON analysers.
The NITON XLt 797X permits the user to visually identify a "small spot" for screening with the first ever color CCD camera to be incorporated into a portable XRF analyser to locate, specify and save the image together with the chemical analysis of an individual component. This integrated visualization technology, paired with Thermo's NITON NDT software, displays a picture image of the sample from the perspective of the detector, with a bulls-eye indicating the 7mm2 (3mm diameter) area being analyzed. Image quality at close range is facilitated by an integrated internal LED light.
NITON NDT software allows users to store this picture of the sample area along with the analysis data for easy reference, data management, and data integrity. While still maintaining all the convenience and advantages of a fully portable handheld XRF device, the NITON XLt 797X, coupled with a PC, allows for precision previously achievable only with bench-top and laboratory analysers. Thermo's NITON XLt 797X eliminates production delays associated with waiting on lab results and reduces the chances that RoHSrestricted materials will enter the manufacturing process, with the added versatility and utility of small-spot analysis. The NITON XLt 797X now truly allows the industry to bring the "laboratory XRF" directly to the object to be analysed.
